Install and update
Download
Open moymo.net/download. It picks the 64-bit build for you unless your Windows is 32-bit; the arrow on the Windows button lets you choose.
| Build | For |
|---|---|
| 64-bit | Most PCs. |
| 32-bit | Older 32-bit Windows. |
You get one file (under 10 MB), Moymo_<version>_x64-setup.exe or ..._x86-setup.exe. That file is both the installer and the program.
If Windows asks
The installer is not yet code-signed, so Windows SmartScreen may say it does not recognise it. Choose More info, then Run anyway. The program's updates are signed and checked (see below), so this is about the first install only.
What the installer does
Run the file. A setup window opens and, on Install:
- copies the program to
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Moymo(your own user folder: no administrator rights needed); - makes shortcuts and an entry in Windows Settings > Apps > Installed apps;
- starts the program.
Pairing
The first time it starts, the program shows a code. In your browser, signed in to Moymo, approve the code (the page shows which program is asking). The program gets a key of its own, stored in the Windows Credential Manager, encrypted to your Windows account. It never sees your password, and you can take its key away any time under Settings > Devices on moymo.net.
Then a short first-run screen compares what you have linked on moymo.net with what the program found on your PC (launchers, installed games) and offers what is missing.
Updating
Updates are offered, never forced. The program looks for one every twenty minutes or so, and when one is ready it says Update now (or Restart to update). Nothing restarts by itself, so an update never interrupts a game.
Every update is signed: the program checks the signature against a key compiled into it before it installs anything. Settings has a Check for updates button that answers with a reason if it cannot.
Add-ons update on their own, a little differently: see Add-ons.
Removing it
Windows Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Moymo > Uninstall, or run Moymo.exe --uninstall.
- It removes the program and its shortcuts, and always deletes the key it used from the Credential Manager.
- It keeps your play history on the PC by default. A quiet uninstall (
--uninstall --quiet) deletes the history too. - It does not delete anything on moymo.net. Your library and hours there stay, and you can remove the device under Settings > Devices.
