On a television
Availability
The Moymo Link television app is built for LG webOS televisions (the LG operating system since 2014). It is not in the LG Content Store yet, so for now it is installed by Moymo's team as a developer app. If you want it on your television, ask in the Moymo server; the plan is to publish it in the store.
Pairing a television
A television is a device of your Moymo account, like your PC, but a limited one: it can see your PCs and ask to connect, and nothing else.
- Open Moymo Link on the television. It shows a QR code and an eight-character code.
- On your phone, scan the QR code with the camera or the Moymo app. (Without a camera, open
moymo.net/pair-tvon any device and type the code.) - Moymo shows which television is asking. Check the name and choose Allow.
- The television is linked. Your PC and phone are told, and the bell shows "television linked".
You can unlink a television any time under Settings > Devices on moymo.net.
Codes are short-lived
The code on the television runs out after a few minutes (a countdown shows how long). If it does, the television makes a new one.
Playing
- The television lists your PCs that have Link on (see Set up your PC).
- Choose one. A second later the PC's screen (or the window you picked) is on the television, with sound.
- Use the controller. Press Back to leave.
If your PC is not listed, Link is off on it, it is not on the same network, or its Moymo program is not running.
What is shown
The television shows exactly what the PC chose on its Moymo Link card: a window (a game), or a screen. A screen that is not changing sends no new pictures, so a still desktop uses almost no network.
Quality
Up to 1080p at 60 fps. If the picture is blocky, the Wi-Fi is the usual cause: see When it does not work.
Measured on a real television
A 2021 LG (webOS 6.5, four processor cores, on Wi-Fi) plays 1080p60 at 12 Mbit/s with no packet loss and about half the television's processor in use. Its Wi-Fi started dropping packets above roughly 12 to 15 Mbit/s, which is why 1080p60 at 12 Mbit/s is the target.
