Add-ons (modules)
The program stays small because most of what it can do is not in it. Extra things come as add-ons, called modules, which you install when you want them.
The Modules page
The + under the sidebar icons, or Settings > Modules, opens the page. It lists the add-ons you can install and the ones you have. Each says what it is and how big it is. Install downloads it; Remove takes it away.
An installed module adds a place to the sidebar.
| Module | What it is |
|---|---|
| Servers | Channels, roles, voice, screen sharing, posts, polls and more. Servers |
| Password Vault | A vault for your logins and one-time codes, on your PC. Password Vault |
| Clips and screenshots | Your clips and screenshots, and a recorder that keeps the last minute of your screen. Clips |
How they are kept safe
- Every module is built by Moymo and signed with the same key as the program's updates. The program checks the signature and a hash against a key compiled into it before it installs one. A module that does not pass is not installed.
- A module runs in the program's window like a page, and talks to the program only through small commands that each module is allowed. The program checks each command: a module cannot ask the program to do something it was not built for.
- A module's data lives in a folder of its own under the program's data folder.
Updates
Modules update by themselves: at start and every twenty minutes the program installs newer compatible versions and reloads the window when it is quiet. A module that needs a newer program says so and waits until the program is updated.
Where to find more
At the moment Moymo's own modules are the ones available. Bots for your servers are a different thing: see Bots in your server.
