When it does not work
My PC is not listed on the television
- Is Link on? Open the Moymo Link card on the PC and press Start. The icon is green only while streaming; the card says whether the PC is on and reachable.
- Is the program running? Moymo for Windows has to be running (it can be in the tray).
- Same network? The PC and the television must be on the same home network. A guest Wi-Fi, a different router behind the first, or a VPN on the PC puts them on different networks.
- Same account? The television must be linked to the same Moymo account (Settings > Devices lists it).
- Wait half a minute. The PC reports where it is every thirty seconds; the television refreshes its list.
It lists my PC but will not connect
- Firewall. The first time Link listens, Windows asks to allow Moymo on the network. If you declined, open Windows Security > Firewall > Allow an app through the firewall and allow Moymo on Private (and Public if your network is marked Public).
- Router "client isolation" (sometimes called AP isolation, on guest networks) stops devices on Wi-Fi from talking to each other. Turn it off, or put the PC on a cable.
- Another program holds port 47770. Close it, or restart Moymo.
The picture is blocky or stutters
- The Wi-Fi is the usual cause. The target is about 12 Mbit/s; a television's Wi-Fi often starts losing packets above 12 to 15. Use 5 GHz or a cable (Ethernet via a small adapter), and sit closer to the router.
- Lower the load on the PC. A game that uses the graphics card to the limit leaves less for the encoder. Lower the game's settings, or its resolution, a little.
- 1440p and 4K are not offered. A television decodes the video in software, and 1440p played about 21 frames a second on a measured 2021 LG. 1080p60 is the target.
- A damaged picture repairs itself at the next keyframe, within two seconds. That is a limit, not a fault: the television cannot ask for a new keyframe.
The screen is black or frozen
- A screen that is not changing sends no new pictures. Move the mouse.
- A window that is minimised may send nothing, because there is nothing drawn. Restore it, or share the screen instead.
- Some games in exclusive full screen may not capture as a window; try borderless windowed, or share the screen.
There is no sound
- Is the sound switched on? The Moymo Link card has a button, and so does your phone.
- Sharing a window plays that program's sound only; sharing a screen plays everything except Moymo's own voices.
- The television's volume and input are separate from the PC's.
The controller does nothing
- Is ViGEmBus installed? Without it the controller only moves the pointer.
- Hold Back and Start for a second to switch between play and pointer.
- A controller must be connected to the television, not the PC.
"Too old"
If a viewer says the PC's Moymo is too old, update Moymo for Windows (Settings > Check for updates).
Still stuck
Say what you see on the Moymo Link card (the status line), and what the television shows, in the Moymo server or with Suggest a change on this page if the answer should be added here.
